Ok. I just gotta say something. To quote Bad Lucc "hating is so cliche". The concept of hating is cliche. Listen to me: you're allowed to not like someones music, despite the fact that they're "making their money" as they should.
I'm not going to say names but for example, say I don't like a rapper named Yung XYZ. Here's how conversations go 9 times out of 10.
"I don't know...I just think Yung XYZ is wack. He his raps arent that dope."
"You can't be mad though...he's making money"
"Yea but he still can't rap"
"He's a number one selling artist though...that's gotta mean somthing.
Numbers don't lie..."
"Yea but I still don't like his raps"
"You're just jealous...you wish you were making money like Yung XYZ"
Ok, I get it and yes I am jealous. But...just because he's got cheese, it doesn't mean I have to like his music. Especially if he's wack to me. Yes, he's making money, but I'm not listening to his money, I'm listening to his raps, and I don't like his raps. They don't sound good to me. It's not an enjoyable situation. In music, the listener is supposed to listen to the music of the artist. Is that a difficult concept? His money really has nothing to do with my enjoyment of his mediocre music.
No I don't like your favorite rapper. Yes I'd sell him a beat. No, I'm not buying his album. Yes I'm happy for him. No I'm not going to roll with him because 500,000 teenage girls (his prime demographic) request him on the radio and the record label pays for the rest of the requests. Sorry.
